Services for Edwin Erle Stout, 80, of Thomasville are at 11 am Friday, December 23, 2005 at Dawson Street United Methodist Church where he was a member. The Rev. Ramon Hernandez will officiate and interment is at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Stout died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born on May 4, 1925, Mr. Stout was raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He married Doris Ellen Roy on June 25, 1949, who survives. Together they raised three children, Douglas, Kenneth and Susan. Mr. Stout was educated in Altoona public schools, was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and attended Methodist Training camps in his youth. He graduated from Texas A & M and University of Pittsburg. He was a pioneer in development of computer aided drafting, design, manufacture and integration of electronic equipment and systems, a system manager at the Cape Canaveral Computer facility and a senior member of the Apollo Launch Readiness Assessment team. His proudest career achievement was helping to land the first man on the moon. He was a charter lifetime member of the Space Pioneer and Space Congress. He retired in 1989 from the State of Florida where he was a Computer Systems Analyst and Developer. In Thomasville, he was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis. He would like to be remembered as a man who was thankful for his close family. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Douglas Stout of Lake Mary, Fl; a son and daughter-in-law Ken & Jean Stout of Jacksonville, Fl; a daughter and son-in-law Susan & Neal Ford of Thomasville; grandchildren Matthew Stout, Emily and John Albritton, Megan Ford and Amy Ford; and great grandchildren, Jacob Albritton and Abigail Albritton.
