Edwin Eugene Gerdes, 84 of Thomasville passed away on August 24, 2024. He was born on June 4, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa.
In his earlier years, Edwin served in the United States Air Force and was able to travel the world while serving. Professionally, Edwin worked as a Tampa police officer and a lineman. He owned his own business and was a master electrician. He was the best dad, granddad, and husband and loved his family with all of his heart.
He is survived by his daughters Mary Gerdes of Thomasville and Brenda Smith of Plant City, FL; son Jeffrey Gerdes of Plant City, FL; son Greg Gerdes of Riverview, FL; brother Bob Gerdes; grandchildren Melissa Gerdes, Carolyn K Dennis (Mark), Jericho Collins (Kaleb), Aaron Smith, Ryan Smith (LeAnna), Jeffrey Smith, and Stewart Smith Jr. followed by 12 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Gerdes, sister Marlene Junkman and brothers Chuck Gerdes and Melvin Gerdes.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 13th at 2 pm at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
