Eleanor Williams Wilkerson of Lexington, Ky., passed away on Tuesday May 21, 2019 in Thomasville, Ga. at the home of her son. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Eleanor was a resident of Southern Pines in Thomasville for the past 2 ½ years. Born on October 7, 1929 in Cook County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Clinton Williams and Allie Wilson Williams. She married Meadows Elwood (Red) Wilkerson on January 28, 1951. Their loving marriage of 65 years was a model to all. Eleanor was a stay at home mother and wife whose Christian hospitality blessed family, friends, and many children entrusted to her care. From 1969-1973 she worked as a switchboard operator at Lexington’s VA Hospital. She was a long time member of Lexington’s First Assembly of God Church where she served as a greeter and hosted home Bible studies. Eleanor leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law Ron and Mona Wilkerson of Thomasville, Georgia; her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Raymond Byron of Lexington, Kentucky; son Danny Wilkerson of Lexington, Kentucky; son Edward Wilkerson of Ft. Pierce, Florida; brother Roger Williams of Thomasville, Georgia; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Red Wilkerson and her siblings Fred Williams, Gladys Smith, Billy Williams, Mary Cook, Tom Williams, Martha Williams, Glen Williams, and Langdale Williams. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday May 25, 2019 in the Chapel of Allen & Allen Funeral Home with Ron Wilkerson officiating. Her family will greet friends on Saturday from 10:00-11:00AM prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 3:00PM on Wednesday May 29, 2019 at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky at 833 W Main St, Lexington, Ky. Family and friends may visit her tribute page at
