Elinor S. Buechner died peacefully in her sleep on Monday morning, October 8, 2018. Born on January 6, 1930, she was married for 49 years, 11 months and two weeks to Alvin Wendel Buechner who died in 1999. Elinor was a native of St. Louis, Missouri, the only daughter of Kenneth Schreiner and Elizabeth Leona Slawson who also preceded her in death. A graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in St. Louis, she also attended Washington University in St. Louis, and Thomas University in Thomasville, Ga. Elinor was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Thomasville, and a devoted member of the Parish Altar Guild, serving as Chairman for several years. An accomplished classical pianist, artist, and gardener, Elinor remained an avid reader her entire life particularly in the area of Theology and Egyptian History. She is survived by her three children: The Rev. Frederick A. Buechner of Thomasville, Ga. and wife Kathy; Janet Buechner Hurlbutt and husband Stephen of Atlanta, Ga.; and Robert Wendel Buechner and wife Michelle of Gulf Breeze, Fl. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Memorial Holy Eucharist will be held Thursday October 18 at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Thomasville, Ga. at 11:00 am with The Rev. Paul Hancock and The Rev. Will Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Parish Memorial Garden immediately followed by a reception in the Church Parish Hall.
