Elizabeth Carol Burdette Merritt

Services for Elizabeth Carol Burdette Merritt, 70, of Cairo will be held 2 pm, Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Pine Park Baptist Church and interment will be at Pine Park Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Gordon Cloud and Rev. John Paul Hasick will officiate. Mrs. Merritt passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Grady General Hospital. She was born December 7, 1941 in Ft. Myers Florida. Mrs. Merritt was the daughter of the late James Frederick Burdette and Lillian Wallace Burdette of Albany who survives. She was the district manager for Avon. Other survivors include her children, Douglas Eugene Combs, Guy Frederick Combs, and Jerry Lane Merritt, Jr., all of Cairo, Shawn Maria Combs Nelson and husband Trent of Galesburg Il., grandchildren Elizabeth Carlson, Drew Carlson, Austin Merritt, step grandchildren, Trevor and Taylor Nelson, sisters Lois Crocker of Vancover Washington and Margaret Hurst of West Palm Beach Florida, brothers, Aaron Burdette and James Burdette both of Albany. Mrs. Merritt was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Avera. Donations may be made to Pine Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 3783 Pine Park Rd, Cairo, Ga 39828.
