Funeral services for Ellis Eugene Vinson will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at Northwood Church of God with interment in Little Ochlocknee Cemetery. Officiating will be his Grandsons along with Rev. Dan Tomberlin. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Mr. Vinson died Monday, October 28, 2002 at Camellia Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville. Born July 23, 1914 in Colquitt Co., he was the son of Ebenezer and Arkansas Barwick Vinson, both preceeded him in death. He was married to Deoris Benton Vinson on July 23, 1937 in Thomas County and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He was a member of Northwood Church of God and accepted Christ as Lord of his life at age twenty. He loved to read and study his Bible and taught Sunday School classes up to 1991. He was a retired meat cutter from Sunnyland Foods. He was a loving husband and devoted father who loved being at home with his wife and four daughters. He is survived by his wife Deoris B. Vinson of Ochlocknee, four daughters and son-in-laws Clarice and Rev. James Weaver of Dublin, VA., Sue and Lew Garfield, Judy and W.L. Carter both of Ochlocknee, Wanna and Rev. Walter Singletary of Athens, Ga. Grandchildren Rev. Alan Weaver of Hephizbah, Ga, Rev. Scott Weaver of Wichita, Ks., Kelly Weaver Bishop of Pulaski, Va., Kim Banks Pollard of St. Petersburg, Fl., Shannon Banks of Quitman, Ga., Joel Carter of Thomasville, Ga., Lynn Carter Arline of Whigham, Ga., Rev. Derek Singletary of Wake Forrest, Nc., Mandy Singletary Kelso of Marietta, Ga., and 14 Great Grandchildren. Sisters Edna Burgess and Nezzie Fallin both of Meigs, Ga. He was preceeded in death by a son-in-law Wendell Banks, brothers Thelma Vinson, Duell Vinson, Curtis Vinson and sisters Katie V. Roberts and Beatrice V. Burgess.
