Graveside services for Elmer Clayton Mims Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2004 at Summerhill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mitch Clements officiating. Mr. Mims died February 1, 2004 at Grady General Hospital. Born on February 16, 1905 in Thomas County, he was the son of the late James Adams Mims and Mary Catherine Witherington Mims. On December 31, 1930 he married to Jessie Lea Hendrix who died on April 23, 1990. Mr. Mims was a retired farmer and was the oldest living member of Summerhill Baptist Church. Survivors include his son E.C. Mims Jr; of Thomasville, Grandchildren, Theresa Dunlap Furuta, Richard Alan Mims, and Randall Clay Mims; Great grandchildren, Amanda Mims, Kathryn Mims, Jacob Mims and Mac Furuta. Mr. Mims was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Dunlap. The family request that Memorial Donations go to Summerhill Baptist Church, 7186 Summerhill Rd., Boston, Ga. 31626.
