Emily Baron entered her heavenly home on January 4, 2022. She was born in Thomasville, Georgia, on October 28, 1942, to Mary Georgia Scott and John Pelham Scott. Emily graduated from Thomasville High School in 1960. Upon graduating, she entered nursing school at Vereen Memorial Hospital in Moultrie, Georgia. While in nursing school in Moultrie, she met Oscar Benjamin Baron, “the love of her life”. They were married in 1962 and had 49 wonderful years together. In Oscar’s line of work as a lineman for General Telephone Co. and then for Burnip and Sims, they lived in many states and in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They later moved to Tallahassee, Fla., and were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Mary Margaret, in 1973. Oscar’s job later took them to Williston, Fla., where they were blessed again with a beautiful baby boy, John Thomas Baron in 1979. In 1991 they moved back to Moultrie, Ga., where they met originally, and would live out the remainder of their lives. While in Moultrie, Emily spent her time raising her family, nursing, working with Colquitt County Mental Health Department, participating in her church, and rescuing stray animals and giving them a home. She was a truly loving, caring, and compassionate lady who will be missed by her loving family and many friends. She had a special bond with many of her high school classmates and friend and coworker, Latavia Richardson. Emily is survived by her daughter, Mary Margaret Baron, of Tampa, Fla., son, John Thomas Baron and wife Tiffany and three special grandchildren Jacob, Zane, and Olivia of Ellenton, Ga., her sister, Janyce Scott Ellington and husband Don Ellington of Rome, Ga., nephew, Dr. Kent Ellington and wife Margaret and children Murray and Anne Walker Ellington of Rome, Ga., sisters-in law Betty Baron, Becky Rentz, Kathy Becton, Connie Sue Rhodes and husband Andy, Martha Richter and husband John, brother in law Guerry Baron and wife Pam and many nieces and nephews, and her many rescued animals, cats and dog “Precious”. Due to pandemic concerns, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
