Graveside services for Emily McBride Bush will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Dr. Jimmy Clanton will officiate. Emily, better known as "Inky" to her family and friends, was born to the late Julian Davis McBride, Sr. and Martha Swift Carmean, on March 1, 1939 in Thomasville. A part of her life was spent at the home of her maternal grandparents, George & Henrietta Swift. She graduated from Valdosta State College in 1961, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. On May 13, 1961 she married Marion Jordan Bush. She was a housewife and mother and later joined her husband as owner of Modern Cleaners & Laundry. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville and Thomasville Junior Service League. Her many hobbies included gardening, sewing, and playing bridge with a special group of ladies. Survivors include daughter, Karen Ethel Bush of Thomasville, sons, Marion Jordan Bush, Jr of Orlando, George Swift Bush of Thomasville and Glenn Montgomery Bush, (Terrilyn) of Thomasville; grandsons, Cpt. Parker Montgomery Bush, Esq (Madeline) of Charlottesville, VA., George Walker Bush of Mexico Beach, Fl., and Ryan McBride Bush of Richmond, VA; granddaughter, Emily Kay Jordan Bush of Savannah, Ga., and great-granddaughter, Vivienne Dawn Bush of Charlottesville, VA; sister, Virginia McBride Dula of Allen Park, MI; sister-in-law, Debbie McBride of Thomasville. She is also survived by her special nieces and nephews and their families whom she loved dearly. And loving caretakers, Mary, Curtis and Faye. Mrs. Bush was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Marion Bush; infant grandson, William Marion Bush; sisters, Betty McBride Jinright and Ann McBride Stringer and brother, Julian Davis McBride, Jr. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee, Florida, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd.
