Services for Emily Ellis Hewett, 75, of Thomasville, GA will be held at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30AM, Saturday, June 28, 2014. The Rev. Tommy Odum will officiate and burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Emily was born in Auburn, AL to Clyde and Ruth Ellis of September 25, 1937. She grew up in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School. After graduation, she worked for the Auburn Alumni Association. Emily married Huey Wayne Hewett of Opelika, AL on January 14, 1961. Spending most of their 53 years of marriage in Thomasville, Emily worked for the county and city school systems for 20 years. Emily was a member of Dawson Street United Methodist Church. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving and devoted husband Huey Wayne Hewett, daughter Catherine Quimby and husband Tom of Panama City, FL; son Matthew Hewett and wife Darby of Thomasville, GA; sisters Martha Stephens and Rebecca Ellis of Auburn, AL; also five grandchildren Daniel, Josh, Hannah, and David Quimby and Conner Hewett. The family will receive friends Friday June 27, 2014, 6PM until 8PM at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Dawson Street United Methodist Church, 1132 N Dawson St, Thomasville, GA 31792.
