Emily Smith Milton, 94, passed peacefully on Monday, July 12, 2021, in Thomasville, GA. She was born December 30, 1926, in Newnan, Georgia, as the second child to Rev and Mrs. Clarence M. Smith. Her 76th wedding anniversary to her loving husband, Joseph Alexander Milton Jr, of Thomasville, GA, occurred the same date. She is survived by her husband and by their four children, Alan J. Milton, of Tifton, GA; Martin R. Milton (Dianne), of Kennesaw, GA; A. Gary Milton (Gale) of Thomasville, GA and Helen Milton Meeks (Randall) of Port St Joe, FL. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Alison Milton Welch, (Jacob) of Thomasville; Jeremy Bill (Sarah) of Kennesaw, GA; Alan J. Milton II (Morgan) of Greenville, NC; Alex G. Milton (Jessica) of Tallahassee; Suzanne K. Milton of Tifton, GA; Valerie Bill Duncan (Kyle) of Dallas, GA; Derek T. Milton (Tara) of Cairo, GA; Matthew A. Milton (Kayla) of Thomasville, GA; Lara Meeks Clay (Paul) of Huntsville, AL; Brenna L. Meeks of Huntsville, AL; and Kayla R. Meeks of San Diego, CA. Emily is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Emily was preceded in death by her infant son, David, her parents, and three siblings. Emily worked 24 years at Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, GA. She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with her friends in her small group for many years. She appreciated nature and sharing that with others as a former member of the Briarcliff Garden Club and had many award-winning floral designs in their shows. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making costumes and dolls for her grandkids, upholstering furniture and sewing her daughter's wedding dress. Her gift to anyone who visited in her home was a seat at her table where she ministered with her skills as an excellent cook, a loving heart and a listening ear. Her favorite part of life was spending time with her extended family interacting, playing table games, sorting puzzles, having meals and laughing together. Visitation will be held in Thomasville, GA at Allen and Allen Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 15, 2021, with service afterward at 2:00 P.M. and interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery following.
