Services for Emma Jewel S. Gilmer, 84, of Barwick, will be at 3:00PM Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Harmony Primitive Baptist Church in Barwick where she was a member. Elders Phillip Howell and Joe Hayes will officiate with prayer by grandson William H. Arnold, III. Burial will be at Harmony Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, LT. Col Andy Griffin, Danny Griffin, William H. Arnold, III, Cliff Waldrep, Keith Waldrep, Mark Waldrep and Tim McLean. Mrs. Gilmer died April 25, 2002 at Beverly Healthcare of Tifton. Born July 31, 1917 in Brooks Co., Ga. she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Ruby Strickland Stephenson. On September 29, 1936 in Brooks Co., Ga., she married Charles H. Gilmer who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of Occupied Home Demostration Club. Mrs. Gilmer was retired from the Brooks County School System. Survivors include daughters & son-in-law, Betty Jean & Romeo Griffin of Cordele, Marilyn G. & William H. Arnold, Jr. of Chula, Ga., Rachel McLean of Orlando, Fl., Karen G. & Wayne Waldrep of Thomasville, Ga.,; sisters, Sara Hobbs & Martha Howell both of Barwick,Ga.; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Andy & Anne Griffin, Kathy & Kent Campbell, Joanne & Johnny Culpepper, Danny & Teresa Griffin, Sharon & Thomas Connell, Judy & John Lindsey, William H.,III & Becky Arnold, Nena Mayne, Cliff & Debbie Waldrep, Keith Waldrep, Mark Waldrep, Tim & Eva McLean & Shannon & Warren Alfred; 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Agnes Miller & Katheryne Smith. Memorials may be made to United Hospice, 415 E.
