Emmett "Wayne" Parramore, 84, of Coolidge, passed away on February 12, 2026, in Moultrie, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 22, 1941, in Coolidge to the late Emmett Neel Parramore and Mary Lou Helms Parramore.
Wayne was proud to be part of the first graduating class of Central High School in 1959. He furthered his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), earning an Associate's Degree in 1961. A dedicated farmer for much of his life, Wayne made significant contributions to the agricultural industry. In 1970, he engineered a grill smoker from a 1949 water tank, a testament to his inventive spirit that would serve many through the years. Notably, in 1993, he became the first farmer in his area to grow cotton using a drip irrigation system, exemplifying his commitment to innovation and sustainability in agriculture. Wayne was also the largest lupine farmer east of the Mississippi from 1991 to 1994.
After retiring from farming in 1996, Wayne continued to apply his skills and knowledge to various endeavors, including pond clearing, septic tank work, and bridge construction in Thomas County. Wayne, his father, and brother were the proud owners of Parramore Dairy, leaving a lasting impact on the agricultural landscape of the region.
Survivors include his loving wife, Wanda Parramore; children, Celise Parramore of Coolidge, Robert Parramore(Mary) of Coolidge, Chris Parramore (Shelby) of Coolidge, and Jennifer Raymo of Camden, AL; step-children, Tonya Thompson of Lake Mary, FL, Jim Barber of Wilton Manor, FL, and Jac Barber of Cairo; siblings Anne Bowman of Hollywood, SC and Darlene Holland of Perry; grandchildren David Cliett III, Ashley Law, Andrew Cliett, Kandi Prance, Elizabeth Collins, Renee Dixon, Courtney Camp, Jessica Ross, Tyler Raymo, Justin Raymo, Jacob Barber Jr., Alexis Meier, and Chase Pittman followed by several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lillian Dickerson, Maurice Parramore, and Lucille Hubbard.
A service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 2 pm at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Wayne will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
