Emory Lynell Nesmith

Services for Emory Lynell NeSmith, 73, of Coolidge will be on Wednesday January 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Big Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member. Rev. Al Wilburon, Rev. Dewitt Rehberg and Rev. Jessie Alligood will officiate and internment will be in Big Creek Cemetery. Mr. NeSmith died on January 1, 2011 in Thomasville. Born Feb. 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Olin J. and Bessie Williams NeSmith. He was married to Verbie Key NeSmith, who survives. Mr. NeSmith was a faithful member of Big Creek Baptist Church, where he has served as Chairman of The Deacons. He graduated from Coolidge High School in 1955, graduated from Central Florida Community Collage with an AA degree and began a career in aviation as an aircraft mechanic at Spence field. He later became a crew chief. He was a flight instructor for Moody Primary Division and Ayers Aviation in Albany, GA. He retired as an airline transport pilot for Flowers Foods in Thomasville. Survivors include his wife of 7 years, Verbie Key NeSmith, a daughter and son in law, Edie and Albert Purser of Ocala, FL; step-daughter and step son in law, Mellisa and Dewayne Moring of KS; step-daughter, Lalena King of Montana, and step-son Eric Jackson of Canton, GA. Also surving are grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Purser; step grandchildren, Angi Driggers, Lindsey Jackson, Jasmine South, Daulton King, Willow Moring and Tjaden Moring; step great grandchildren, Donovan Driggers, Lanie Driggers and Riley Jinks. Also surviving are a brother and sister in law, Carol Dean and Nan NeSmith of Ocala, FL; sister, Shirley NeSmith of Coolidge and sister and brother in law Hilda and Bruce Alles of Woodstock. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Nell B. NeSmith and his parents Olin and Bessie NeSmith. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
