Graveside services for Ernest Hobbs, 86, of Pavo, are 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Lebanon Cemetery, in Pavo, with the Rev. Dr. Milton Gardner officiating. Mr. Hobbs died February 8, 2007 at Archbold Hospital. Born October 19, 1920, in Thomas Co., he was the son of the late Joseph Cecil & Mary Frances Bryant Hobbs. On July 29, 1948, in Colquitt Co., he married Mildred Jones Hobbs, who precedes him in death. Mr. Hobbs was a Navy Veteran, was involved in the Invasion of North Africa and had two ships attacked and survived. He was the first volunteer chief of Pavo Fire Dept, and a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville. He is survived by sons & daughters-in-law, Biff & Dottie Hobbs, of Pavo, Sidney & Brenda Hobbs, of St. Augustine, Fl., daughter & son-in-law, Marcy & Rick Nix, of Pavo, sister & brother-in-law, Nadine & Bill Connell, of Nashville, GA., grandchildren, Ashley & Jamie Finch, Heidi & Walter McDaniel, Kealon Nix, and Madison Hobbs, great grandchild, Whittier Hobbs Finch. A granddaughter, Holly Hobbs, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holly Hobbs #7 Foundation, C/O Commercial Bank, P.O. Box 710, Thomasville, Ga 31799.
