Funeral services for Eugene Talmadge Barnes of Boston will be held Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel at 2:00PM. The Rev. Gerri Simpson, Tony Walker will officiate with guest speaker Donnie Rowe and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Barnes was born on May 22, 1930 in Colquitt County to the late Joseph and Mary M. Barnes. He was a former mechanic for Spence Olds in Thomasville. Mr. Barnes died Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle E. Barnes of Boston; a son, Doyle K. Barnes of Cairo; a daughter, Elizabeth Wood of Ochlocknee; a daughter, Marie Johnson of Boston; a daughter, Eunice M. Spring of N. Laurel, Miss.; a son, Tony Barnes of Moultrie; a daughter, Patricia Johnson of Thomasville; a daughter, Tammy Laws of Thomasville and a son, Henry Barnes of Thomasville; 3 brothers, Joe Barnes of Boston; Ira Barnes of Ocala, Fl; and Marvin Barnes of Tennessee; 2 sisters, Mary Rhodes of Florida and Bonnie Barnes of New Orleans, Louisana; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Lange, father, Joseph Barnes and mother, Mary M. Barnes. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00PM Friday at the funeral home.
