Services for Eugenia "Gini" K. Hayes, 82 of Thomasville will be held at Thomasville First Baptist Church Chapel at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 8, 2010, where she was a member. The Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner and Dr. Tom Jacobs will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. She was born May 27, 1928 in St. Clair County, Alabama to the late Roy T. and Jessie Lee Kell; she is survived by her husband, Harold D. Hayes, who she married June 8, 1947 in Macon, Georgia Tatnall Square Baptist Church on Mercer Campus. Gini was a graduate of Miller High School for girls 1945 in Macon. She later studied creative writing under Dr. Ann Monk of Weslyn College for Women, and at the Billy Graham School of Christian writing in Minneapolis, MN. Her work was published in his monthly magazine. She was also published in Motor Boat magazine. Gini's Christian influence was broadcast in one of the first Christian television programs in Macon, Georgia where she also taught Sunday School and helped young girls as a Girl Scout leader. In 1976, she recorded an album of Christian music entitled One Day at a Time under the Herald record label in Greenville, S.C. She also sang for the Layton Ford Crusade and numerous chapters of the Christian Women's Club of America and Churches throughout the South East and the Full Gospel Businessmen's Convention. She was a Gideon International Auxiliary member. Her civic service included membership in the Macon Service League, where in 1969 she received their award for Family of the Year. She worked in Macon in the banking and insurance business, and as a church secretary for 12 years. Other survivors include their three children and spouses, Danny Bonnie Hayes of Thomasville, Lee Ron Rogers of Lilburn, and Holly Richard Holder of Duluth. She was loved by seven grandchildren, Tyler Hayes, Hal Kathryn Hayes, Ashley Holder, Landon Holder, Hope Rogers, Whit Hayes, and Emmy Hayes, and one great-grandson Hank Hayes; sister, Delores Donald Burkhalter of Atlanta, and brothers, Grady Barbara Kell of Macon, and Wayne Linda Kell of Macon. She was also loved by her sister-in-law, Georgia Mae Hayes of Macon, and her children, Cora Lee "Stevie" Hooker and Mona Leon Durden, of Macon.
