Eugenia Reid Jernigan Hendrix passed away at her residence at Woodleaf on November 12, 2021. She was born on March 3, 1927, in Georgiana, Alabama, to Reuben Milton and Annie Costen Jernigan, and grew up in nearby Brewton, Alabama. Eugenia graduated from Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon, Georgia, with a BFA in fashion illustration and dress design, and had a lifelong love of fashion. In 1952 she married Frank Hendrix who preceded her in death on November 12, 1985. Eugenia was a lifelong Methodist and a current member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Susan Botts (Dan), Reid Hendrix (Laura), Anne Avera (Steve), and Charlotte Hungerford; Grandchildren, Josh Botts (Sara), Michael Botts (Anna), Anna Buchanan (Jake),Jennifer Matousek (John), Daniel Hendrix, Paul Hungerford (Johanna), Leah Hungerford, Harrison Avera, Leigh Avera (Colton), and Hunter Avera; Great grandchildren, Julia and Mary Botts, Grace, Frank and Gabriel Botts, Annelise, Aria and Wyatt Hungerford, Juniper and Wilder Buchanan, and Gwendolyn and Stevie Matousek. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Woodleaf and Woodleaf at Home for their care and support, and a special thank you to Hospice of Southwest Georgia and Brittany. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eugenia’s memory may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia or to the charity of your choice.
