Evelyn Hurst Alexander, a Thomasville, Georgia resident from birth until 1990, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on February 28, 1924 in Thomasville, Georgia. She was the only child of Loraine Joiner Hurst and Von Henderson Hurst, who both died in 1966 in Thomasville. She married James William Bill Alexander, of Thomas County, while he was serving during World War II. Her husband passes away, while a resident of Thomasville, on March 20, 1988. She lived in Thomasville until 1990, at which time she moved to Macon, to be near her son Thomas C. Alexander and his family until November 2009. At that time, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to be near her two daughters Judy Alexander Hoskins and Carol Alexander Barry and their families. Family was always her greatest interest, and she is survived by all three children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Daughter Judy Alexander Hoskins of Nashville, Tennessee, son Thomas C. Alexander Willa of Macon, Georgia, and daughter Carol Alexander Barry Phil of Nashville, Tennessee, grandchildren Patricia Hoskins Landrum Steve of Cartersville, Georgia; Jimmy Hoskins Melissa of Bozeman, Montana; Ramsey Alexander Martin Scott of Decatur, Georgia; Thomas C. Alexander, Jr. Kelsey of Memphis, Tennessee; Kristen Barry of Nashville, Tennessee; and Brittany Barry of Nashville, Tennessee, great grandchildren Will Landrum; Haley Landrum; Elijah Hoskins; and Alex Martin. While in Thomasville, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville. After her 3 children left home for college, she was an assistant kindergarten teacher of the Nell Leach class at First Presbyterian Church. After moving to Macon, she joined the First Presbyterian Church. Pastor John Kinser of the First Presbyterian Church of Macon will officiate at graveside services held at Laurel Hill Cemetery on East Jackson Street in Thomasville, Georgia at 11AM Monday, April 01, 2013. Prior to the graveside services, visitation will be held from 9AM to 10:30AM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home, 110 W. Hansell Street, Thomasville, Georgia, 31792.
