Services for Evelyn Moore Phelps, 80, of Thomasville are 3 pm, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Fredonia Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Jerry Lancaster and Rev. Hugh Rockett will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Phelps died April 2, 2008 at Archbold Hospital. Born August 14, 1927 in Macon, Ga, she was the daughter of the late Irvin & Exie Parker Moore. On December 24, 1944 in Macon she married Dewey L. Phelps who preceded her in death. She was an air plane mechanic in Warner Robins in WWII, where she met her husband and after moving to Thomasville she helped with the operation of Phelps Grocery Store and she was retired as a secretary from Southwestern State Hospital. Survivors include daughter & son-in-law, Gail & Jerry Lancaster of Thomasville, grandchildren, Abigail Chandler, Lisa Solana, Donna Joiner, James Thomas, Joseph Thomas, great-grandchildren, Faith & Annabel Chandler and Amy & Amber Solana. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry L. Phelps and granddaughter, Tara Kawahata Lancaster. Memorials may be made to Fredonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1855 Fredonia Rd, Thomasville, Ga 31757. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
