Services for Evelyn Swain Gay, 89, of Thomasville will be held 11 am, Monday, January 16 at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Gay passed away January 12, 2012 at Camellia Gardens. Born September 16, 1922 in Creswell, NC, she was the daughter of the late P.T. Swain and Vida Midyette Swain. She was married to Edward W. Gay, Sr., for 54 years who preceded her in death. Mrs. Gay was a retired registered nurse from Archbold Hospital after 40 years of service. Survivors include her children, Eddie "Lucky" Gay and wife Debra of Tallahassee, Michael Gay and wife Roberta of Lilburn, grandchildren, Edi, Robert, John Edward, Kathryn, Eve, John, Jennifer, Jonathon, Vanessa, Tina, Brian, Gina and David; great grandchildren, Max, Natalie, Luke, Kimberly, Loren, Andrew, Emily, John Daniel, Molly, Christopher, Davis, Andrew and Taylor; brothers & sisters, Walt Swain and wife Tillie of Washington, NC, Lee Swain and wife Mary Alice of Plymouth, NC, Earnest Swain and wife Kay of Zachary, LA, Mike Swain and wife Marlene of King Salmon, AK, Jane Everton and husband Jay of Virginia Beach, VA, Paula Bass and husband Standley of Springhope, NC, Lorna Sheppard and husband Billy of Belhaven, NC and Lois Smith and husband Ronnie of Ahoskie, NC; sisters-in-law, Lillian Swain and Jackie Swain both of Plymouth, NC, lifelong best friends, Jeanne Giddens, Sherry Giddens and Tharon Giddens, Jr and wife Donna . She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gay Davis, great grandson, Josiah, brothers & sister, J.D. Swain, Eddie Swain, Sonya Hardison and best friend Tharon Giddens.
