Born, on March 7, 1920, he was the son of John Henry Babe Knight and Bessie Ethel Strickland Knight, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 20, 1941 in Moultrie Georgia, he married the love of his life, Lue Anna Graham Knight, who remained his true love until his death.
Mr. Knight, being a child of the depression era loved to work, a trait that was very honorable and one that helped to raise and support his brothers, sisters and grandparents, after the death of his father at an early age in his own life. He had a natural talent for construction, which became his Profession. While working on remodeling projects at the former Sunnyland Packing Company he met and became good friends with Hershel & Elsie R. Dodson. In 1968 they formed a corporation and became Knight & Dodson, Inc. Mrs. Dodson continued in the corporation even after her husbands' death until she decided to retire and Mr. Knight bought out her remaining stock, becoming sole owner of the corporation.
Knight & Dodson, Inc., originally starting in residential construction and commercial remodeling, completed many homes in the Fontaine, Myrtle Drive, Orchard Lane, Tuxedo Drive, Millpond Road and South Pinetree Blvd. area of Thomasville, GA. In addition to his strong work ethic, Mr. Knight was active in several other areas of the community. He was a member of Dawson Street Baptist Church and Grady Burgess Sunday school class, even insisting upon being baptized in the Ochlocknee River. He was active until health issues prevented his regular attendance. He was also a former member of the Thomasville Elks, Moose Club, and the Kiwanis Club of Thomasville. He was a charter member of the Hasan Temple of Albany Georgia, Emeritus Member of Thomasville Masonic Lodge #369, J M Rushin Bethlehem Commandery, a Shriner, a former Jestor and an emeritus member of the Eastern Star. He held positions of Master, Past Master, Ambassador, President of Thomasville Shrine club, and Worthy Patron during his past service. Farming was a hobby that he loved and up until the age of 80 he farmed anywhere from 500-1000 acres in addition to working in construction.
