A visitation will be held prior from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Mrs. Seay passed away at Camellia Gardens of Life Care Nursing Home on March 3, 2022. She was 93 years old. Born on September 17, 1928, in Indianapolis, IN, she was the youngest daughter of the late Harley Netherland and Lenore Spencer Netherland. Her older sister was Frances Netherland Brown. Mrs. Seay was married to Jerume (Jerry) Ray Seay who preceded her in death. They were married 52 years, and raised their family in Thomasville, GA. She is survived by son Victor Harley Seay (Donna) of Boston, GA, Heidi Seay Daniell (James) of Greenville SC, Lorelei (Sherry) Spencer of Atlanta, GA, and Laura Seay Hopperton (Mike) of Alpharetta, GA. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Natalie Seay Massey, (Rusty) Portland, OR, Dustin Joshua Seay (Megan) Coolidge, GA, J. Robert Daniell (Sana) Killean, TX, Janie Daniell Maples (Parker) Knoxville, TN, Faith Elizabeth Hopperton, Alpharetta GA and Andrew Ray Hopperton, Alpharetta, GA. In addition, she is survived by 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Seay was a most kind and gentle soul. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that was felt by all in her community, church and especially among her family. She was a member of Thomasville Church of Christ and was steadfast in her Christian faith all her life. She saw the miracles of God in the little blessings of everyday life and encouraged others to have faith during their hard times. She had an intuitive connection with children and pets, and her patience knew no bounds. She was a peacemaker who saw the good in others and believed that we are all God’s children, regardless of our differences. Her bible was highlighted from beginning to end with meaningful passages, and she knew scriptures by heart to help others understand her convictions. Mrs. Seay lived her faith through her deeds, not by words alone. Mrs. Seay worked 13 years for the Bell Telephone company, beginning at the age of 18 in Indianapolis, IN and then in Atlanta, GA until the birth of her first child. Her proudest achievement was being a Mother to her children, and Grandma Florence to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, she worked many years alongside her husband at their Chiropractic clinic across from the Big Oak Tree. In retirement, she enjoyed visiting friends and patients at all the local nursing homes, seeking out residents who were isolated and alone. She faced her memory loss with courage and a sense of purpose, choosing happiness over bitterness every step of her journey. She brought joy not only to her family, but also to the residents and staff of Camellia Gardens with her outrageous collection of wigs, hats, toys, and games. She truly embraced this journey with the exuberance and the heart of a child. The family of Florence Seay would like to thank the entire staff of Camellia Gardens for the exceptional care and love she received while a resident there. In lieu of flowers, please go to a local nursing home. Ask the staff if there are residents who may need company. Go sit down beside them, hold their hand, and let them tell you stories. Or go adopt a new pet from your local rescue shelter and treat them like family; consider donating if you’re not able to adopt. Our Mother will be smiling down from heaven as nothing would make her happier than knowing she inspired acts of love and compassion in others.
