Funeral services for Fred Elijah Godwin, 89, of Thomasville will be held at 3PM on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lee Waller will officiate and interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Godwin passed away November 25, 2015 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born March 20, 1926 in Pelham, he was the son of the late David Elijah Godwin and Melinda Belle Pollock Godwin. Mr. Godwin was a World War II veteran and served the United States Navy for over 11 years. He was owner and operator of several local businesses, including C & F’s Tire and Auto Service Center. He was a master mechanic in the Persian Gulf for Brown and Root Inc. Mr. Godwin is survived by Connie Godwin, his wife of 46 years. Other survivors include daughters, Carol Ann DiSalvo and Edwin Black of Silver Spring, Maryland; Debra Sue King and husband Paul of Safety Harbor, Florida; Donna Marie Baker and husband Paul of Tallahassee, Florida; Melinda Inez Godwin and Val Pinchbeck of Tampa, Florida; and Teresa Renee Zabik and husband Matthew of Union, Kentucky; son Fred Charles Godwin of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; grandchildren Evelyn Christine (Christie) King Washburn; Ashley Kaye King Cross; Heather Lynn King Vasquez; William Michael DiSalvo; Scott Andrew DiSalvo, Jr.; Cassidy Renee Godwin-Pinchbeck; Joseph Elijah Zabik; Kara Melinda Zabik; Jessica Lynn Brinson; and Kimberly Marie Sanders; and a number of great and great great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews Vera Hagan; Vivian Stanaland; Phyllis Hiers; Helen Murray; Nell Godwin; and Ronald Godwin. He was preceded in death by brothers Jesse Roy Godwin; Allen Judson Godwin; James Henry Godwin; Billy Frank Godwin and sister Hazel Mozel Bozeman.
