Gainous Cooper

Ganious Cooper, 78, of Meigs, passed away on July 14, 2026. He was born in Meigs on June 20, 1948, to the late Remer Gainous Cooper and Ethel Phillips Cooper.

Gainous was known for his musical talents. He could play any instrument he could get his hands on, with a particular passion for the fiddle and guitar. His love for music was evident as he often entertained family with his singing, bringing joy and warmth to all who had the pleasure of hearing him.

Survivors include his siblings Clarice Cooper Edgen, Grace Harvey (Irvin) of Meigs, and James Cooper Sr. (Louise) of Meigs, followed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Gainous is preceded in death by his siblings Edward Cooper, Allen Cooper, Irene Cooper, and his parents.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 am at Zion Grove Assembly of God, 422 Zion Grove Church Rd, Meigs, GA 31765.

Gainous Cooper will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
