Gary Dale Beggs

June 1, 1951 — October 30, 2023

Gary Dale Beggs, a husband, father, grandfather, brother and respected industry leader, passed away on October 30th, 2023 in Thomasville GA.

Gary was a native of Confluence PA and ultimately settled in Plainview, Texas. Gary left his first mark on the textile industry working at Levi's. Gary's hard work propelled him to relocate to Thomasville, Georgia to take the role as Plant Manager of Joan Art Mills. Over an illustrious 26-year tenure he contributed significantly to the company's remarkable growth, eventually becoming the Vice President. Joan Art Mills became Burlen Corporation and Gary traveled the world doing this work. Gary's leadership and affable nature endeared him to all his colleagues, making him an exemplary figure in the business world. Upon retirement at the age of 65, Gary found solace in the simple joys of life: riding his beloved tractors, tending to his pool, and spending time with his grandkids and family. An enthusiast of automobiles and Harleys, Gary always remained at the forefront of the latest innovations. Gary loved being a grandfather and always had the latest and greatest for them.

Gary is survived by his wife, Karen (Shearer) Beggs, his children Mandy McLean, Emily McCord, Nick Beggs & Lori Griffin, and his beloved grandchildren Molly, Alice, Ellie, Austin, Sierra, Emma & Reeves. Gary is also survived by his siblings: Patti Guffee, Margie Liittschwager, Mona Wylie, Richard, Brad, and Bo. One of Gary's closest family members was his precious Lulu, a shitzu who loved Gary greatly and brought him much joy.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Walter Beggs, brothers Terry (who served in the military & died in Vietnam) and Marty, brother-in-law Ed Guffee, and nephew Sonny Guffee. Gary was so proud of all of his family members but especially those that served in the military- he had a wall of his house dedicated to those members and their accomplishments.

Gary will be greatly missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
