Geneva Hurst Nixon, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on April 4, 1936, in Meigs, Georgia, Geneva was the daughter of Austin and Annie Jane (Shirah) Hurst. She was a graduate of Meigs City Schools and spent her life dedicated to her family as a homemaker, raising five children with unwavering devotion. She made a little bit go a long way, ensuring her home was filled with warmth and laughter. Her culinary skills were unmatched; she was known for her delicious cakes, pear tarts, biscuits, and dumplings, creating cherished memories around the family table. A proud member of Midway Baptist Church, Geneva found joy in both her faith and the fellowship of her community.

In addition to her culinary talents, Geneva was known for her competitive spirit at the card table, where she could often be found playing Rummy, effortlessly beating anyone who challenged her. Raised in the farming lifestyle of South Georgia, she carried the values of hard work and perseverance throughout her life.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Annie Hurst; siblings, Wilma Allen, Marlin Hurst, Thomas Hurst, Patricia Henson, and Henry Hurst; son, Clarance E. Nixon, Jr., daughter, Carol Brock; grandsons, Daniel and Tyler Goolsby; and special friend, Wesley Taylor.

Geneva is survived by her children, Diann Goolsby (Robert) of Huffman, Tx, Neva Jane Wright of Cairo, Ga, Janet Hoffman (Steve) of Willston, Fl, and Debra Nixon of Thomasville, Ga; her sisters, Myrice Williams of Thomasville, Ga and Minnie Lee Clayton of Whigham, Ga.
