George Timothy Ew

George Timothy “Tim” Drew passed away peacefully at Archbold Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 13, 2020 after a brief illness. Born on March 17, 1950 in Thomasville, Georgia he was the son of the late Charlotte Hicks Drew Kanning of Thomasville and Charles William “Ted” Drew of Cairo. Tim attended Thomasville High School. He was an avid history buff and quite a scholar of the Civil War. Tim was also a sports enthusiast. If the rambling wreck of Georgia Tech was playing football, Tim was cheering them on. He retired from his family business, Hicks Clothing Company, in 2014 where he took delight in helping his customers with their clothing selections. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Billiard Academy, where he would discuss local happenings and the Thomasville High School Bulldogs. He is survived by his son, Channing Drew and sister, Kate Kanning Wilder and her husband, Bobby, two nieces Hannah Beshears (Athens, Georgia), Renny Wilder, two nephews Steven and Jackson Weisenborn all of Thomasville, Uncle George F. Hicks, III of Deland, Fl and numerous cousins. A memorial service will be held at Allen and Allen Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 20, 2020. The Rev. Don West will officiate. Interment will be at the Hicks Family Cemetery, Metcalfe, Georgia. Memorials can be made to the Thomas County Food Bank.
