A memorial service for George Thomas Mashburn, 84, of Thomasville will be held in the chapel of Allen and Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Trawick officiating on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Mashburn passed away peacefully after years of declining health on October 6, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in the New Elm community near Moultrie on September 12, 1935 to the late Mark L. and Julia Russell Pope Mashburn. At age 17, Mr. Mashburn enlisted in the United States Air Force in which he served as a medic until his retirement in 1973, and then later was employed by Sunnyland Foods and Heilig-Meyers as a truck driver. Golfing was one of his greatest passions. He was a member of Morningside Methodist Church. Mr. Mashburn truly realized the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Ruthie Williams Mashburn of Thomasville; son, Colley Mashburn of Thomasville; daughter, Anna Mashburn of Valdosta; sister, Janette Mashburn Ivey of Foley, Alabama; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mashburn of Carrollton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Kay Williams of Moultrie, Gene and Vera Vick of Moultrie, and Dale and Barbara Williams of Berlin and numerous nieces and nephews. He dearly loved his Williams family. He was preceded in death by his siblings; James R. Mashburn, Mary Frances Dampier and Mark L. Mashburn, Jr. The family will receive visitors at Allen and Allen Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas County Food Bank and Archbold Hospice.
