George Melvin Mel Smith

Funeral services for George Melvin Mel Smith of Thomasville will be Friday, July 12, 2002 at 3:00PM at the First United Methodist Church. The Revs. Leann Raynor and Mike Jones will officiate and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Smith died Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Smith was born on September 26, 1940 in McComb Mississippi and a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor degree in Communications and History. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Thomasville. He was the son of the late Earl Andrew Smith and Beulah McGuire Smith. Mr. Smith was married in Madison Florida on March 5, 1983 to Linda Willis who survives. Other survivors include his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Linton and Ila Willis of Madison Florida; a brother-in-law, Rev Edwin and LouAnn Willis of Savannah, Ga and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Boss and Amelia Mulkey of Madison Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or The Archbold Foundation. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm Thursday.
