Services for George Lannis Mims, 80 of Boston will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Summerhill Baptist Church. Rev. Mitch Clements will officiate and interment will be in Summerhill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Mims passed away March 26 at his residence. Born April 18, 1933 in Boston, he was the son of the late James Joshua Mims and Susan Dugger Mims. He was married to Willene (Bennie) Davis Mims for 58 years, who survives. Mr. Mims was a 1950 graduate of Boston High School, was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1950-1955 where he served in the Korean War. He retired from Bell South in 1991 after being employed for 35 years, he was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, the Georgia Sheriffs Assoc, the Pioneers and he enjoyed farming and fishing. Other survivors include daughter, Stacy Mims of Thomasville; sister, Marie Mims Kent of Panama City, FL; sisters-in-law, Estelle Cannon Mims of Boston, Arleta Mims of Americus and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Emmett Mims and Thomas Mims and sister, Frances Mims Boyett. The family will receive friends 5-7pm, Friday, March 28 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
