George Walter Kennon, Jr.

Graveside services for George Walter Kennon, Jr. of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Monday, July 4, 2005 at Laurel Hill Cemetery on 18th Street. The Rev. Dr. Milton Gardner will officiate. Mr. Kennon died July 2 at Camellia Gardens of Life Care after a lengthy illness. Born June 27, 1919 in Poulan, GA he was the son of the late George W. and Mervin Pitts Kennon. He was married to Myrtle Segler Kennon who preceded him in death. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy for four years during WWII. Mr. Kennon was a purchasing agent for Georgia Crate and Basket Co. and was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis, Bethleham Commandery #30 Knights Templar, Thomasville Lodge #369 and the J. M. Rushin Chapter #23 Royal Arch Masons. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, George W., III Ken and Debbie Kennon of Thomasville, daughters and sons-in-law, June K. and Charles Cartee of Lawrenceville, GA, Susan K. and Mike Barwick of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jennifer Simcox, Chad Robertson, Corey Barwick, Scott Barwick, Jessica Barwick, Ashley Miller, Kimberly Kennon and two great grandchildren.
