Funeral services for George William Whetsell, Jr; 78, of Flowery Branch, Ga was held on Thursday, July 27, 2006 in Gainesville, Ga. Mr. Whetsell died on Monday, July 24, 2006 following a brief illness. Born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Whetsell was a long time residence of Miami, Fl prior to moving to Thomasville, where he was a resident for ten years. In recent years, he moved residency to North Georgia. Mr. Whetsell was a disabled American Veteran who had served in World War II in the Seabees in the South Pacific. He also served as Post Commander of the American Legion in Miami, FL and in Clayton, GA where he lived. He is survived by three children, Mort Whetsell Patti of Thomasville, George W. Whetsell III Dianna of Orlando, Fl, Jane Milligan of Houston, TX, and their mother, former wife Delores Whetsell of Southern Pines, Thomasville, and sister, Lois Scott of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
