Gerald William Kurtz, peacefully passed away on December 17, 2023, at Archbold Hospital, at the age of 85. Born on May 12, 1938, in Monroe, MI. He was the son of the late Erwin and Marie Kallenberg Kurtz.
Mr. Kurtz dedicated his life to serving his country, first as a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and later as a devoted employee of FEMA-Mobile Emergency Response Support. His unwavering commitment to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors.
When he wasn't working, he found joy in various activities, including fishing, golfing, and traveling. He cherished spending quality time with his beloved family and friends, creating lasting memories and sharing laughter. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tallahassee where he served as an usher.
Mr. Kurtz is survived by his adoring wife of many years, Geraldine Kurtz, of Thomasville, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Donald Kurtz of Thomasville and James Kurtz and his wife Stephanie of Las Vegas, NV, and as well as his cherished grandchildren, Collan Thomas, Scott Thomas, and Ashley Benoit.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Erwin and Marie Kurtz, as well as his son, Michael Kurtz, and daughter, Dawn Kurtz-Thomas. Although his absence leaves a void in our hearts, his memory will forever live on through the love and fond memories we shared.
In solemn remembrance, a service will be held at a later date at the Veterans National Cemetery in Tallahassee, where he will be laid to rest. .
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Grace Lutheran Church at 2919 Miccosukee Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32308, or to a charity of your choice, reflecting Jerry's deep commitment to his faith and community.
