Gerald Lee Myers passed away peacefully at his home in Thomasville, GA, on June 21, 2024, at the age of 78. Gerald was born in York, PA, the son of Gerald and Dorothy (née Dise) Myers, who preceded him in death.
At 19 years old, he moved with his family to Jacksonville, FL, and joined the United States Air Force as an Automatic Flight Control Specialist working on C-130 transport planes during the Vietnam War. He served until 1971 and was discharged with the rank of Seargeant. After leaving the Air Force, Gerald was employed by General Dynamics, installing and servicing large governmental computer systems, which he continued until his retirement. During and after his employment, he was also a real estate investor and entrepreneur.
In 1978, Gerald married his wife of 45 years, Janet Lynn (née Vance) in Tampa, FL. Together, they moved to Thomasville in 1989. Gerald was a lifelong outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed gardening, sailing, mountain biking, and, especially, windsurfing. He was a member of the Shell Point Windsurfing Club for 25 years and won races throughout Georgia, Florida, and the Caribbean.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughters Melony Kent (John) of Roseville, CA, Dr. Jennifer Mason (Roswell Fort) of Thomasville, GA, and Dr. Jessica Franklin (Patrick) of Marietta, GA; and his grandchildren Celeste, Ciara, Cianna, and Zane Kent, Evelyn and Susina Mason, and Russell, Fern, Beau, and Casey Franklin.
