Memorial services for Gerald L. Jerry Litherland of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Friday, September 26, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Thomasville where he was a member. Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor, Rev. Bob Dixon and Rev. Charles Houston will officiate. Mr. Litherland died September 22, 2003 at Archbold Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born April 28, 1941 in Logan, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clifford and Lucille Campbell Litherland. Mr. Litherland earned a bachelor?s degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a master of divinity degree from Emory University in Atlanta. He was ordained a United Methodist minister in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, and for 10 years served churches in North Georgia. He retired as associate executive director of the North Florida Region of Physician Corporation of America. From 1985 to 1991 he was director of human resources for Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. He was a past chairman of the Thomas Grady County Employers? Committee of the Georgia Department of Labor. He also was a past chairman of the Human Resources Council and ex-officio member of the Board of Directors of the South Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and frequently appeared as a guest speaker on their behalf. For the past several years, as long as he was able, Mr. Litherland served as business manager and career coach for the family-owned Write-Choice Services, Inc. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Janet Comstock Litherland of Thomasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Peggy Litherland of Atlanta, and Steve and Suzanne Litherland of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Carrie, Daniel and Miranda and mother-in-law, Kathryn Comstock of Quitman.
