Gliness Gertrude Odom

Services for Gliness Gertrude Odom, of Moultrie, formerly of Thomasville, will be held Monday, July 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ron Shiver will officiate and internment is at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Gliness Gertrude Odom, 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend to all, passed away peacefully at her home in Moultrie on July 28, 2019. She was born on February 20, 1929 in Moultrie, Ga., to Edgar Eugene Tyler and Ada Love Glass, both of Colquitt County. She married Emmett Lee Odom on June 3, 1944 and they were together for 67 years until his passing in July of 2011. She had five children. Gliness work at Sunnyland Packing company for many years and finished her career there as a lab technician. Her reputation as an honest, hard-working woman led her to be honored by her family and her many friends. Gliness had a passion for fishing, gardening and life in general but her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all. The Odom family wishes to express their gratitude to all who have known and loved Gliness throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Odom, her parents and all siblings, and some grand-children. She is survived by children, Marilyn L. Odom Summerlin of Moultrie, Jerry E. Odom and wife Debbie of Tallahassee, Larry Odom and wife Laurie of Sandy, Utah, Keith Odom and wife Marylu of Sautee Nacoochee, Ga., and Kay Hardy of Cairo, Ga.; 19 grandchildren; multiple great and great-great grandchildren; cousins nieces nephews and many close friends.
