Services for Gordon Thomas Evans, 76 of Melrose, Florida will be held at 11AM, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Father Bob Marsh will officiate and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Evans passed away September 27 in Gainesville, Florida. He was born April 7, 1941 in Jackson, Georgia. He was married to Faye Phillips Evans, who survives. Mr. Evans was a veteran of the United States Marines and worked as an Air Traffic Controller. He was a pilot and loved flying and traveling on trains. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially the Atlanta Braves and FSU. He loved his family, fishing and dogs. He is survived by his daughters, Asela Flynn (Brian) of Davie, Florida, Elisa Altomaro of Tallahassee, Florida, Lisa Crosby (Tony) of Columbus, Georgia and Sherry Chapman of Melrose, Florida; Grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica (Vit), Garrett (Maleah), Dylan, Nicholas, Natalie; great-granddaughter, Camilla; sisters, Pat Carragher and cousin, Nancy Barnard (John), all of Las Vegas, Nevada and cousin, Bill Redfern of Thomasville. The family will greet friends on Friday, 5-7PM at the funeral home.
