Funeral services for Grady Clay Davies Sr. will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Dawson Street Methodist Church, where he was a member. Pastor Charles Whatley will officiate and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Grady Davies Sr., age 88, of Thomasville passed away on May 21, 2023, at Woodleaf Senior Care Center. He was born in Boston, Ga. on March 14, 1935, to the late Virgil M. and Lois Y. Davies. He is married to Doris M. Davies, who survives. Mr. Davies was a veteran of the Unites States Army. He was a member of the Masons, Thomasville Lodge # 369; the WD Mitchell Sons of the Confederacy; the Society of Cincinnati- the Georgia Society; the Jamestown Society; the Sons of American Revolution and the Order of Descendants of Charlemagne. He was retired from Ga Fla Fire Equipment as a salesman, he worked for Balfour Lumber, Ga Crate & Basket Co and Coats & Clark. Other survivors include his children, Grady Clay Davies, Jr (Tricia) of Tulsa OK., James Eric Davies (Jamie) of Marietta and July A. Davies (Afif McGlamry) of Atlanta; grandchildren, Haley Rae Davies-Ross (Cody), John Clay Davies, Sarah Jane Davies-Schultz (Taylor), Sally JoAnna Davies, Guy Nelson Davies, Jack Melancton Davies and Lucas Virgil Davies; cousins, Omie Ann Brynan and Stephen Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson, Nelson Joe Davies-Ross.
