Guy B. Hancock
Services for Guyton Guy Brook Hancock, 54, of Pavo, are at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner and Rev. Dan Spencer will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hancock died Dec. 6, 2009 at his residence in Pavo. Born Dec. 7, 1954, in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Francis "Frank" and Hazel Brook Hancock. On May 4, 1984, at All Saints Episcopal Church, he married Marianne Woodham Hancock of Pavo, who survives. He was a 1973 graduate of Central High School. He graduated with a BS in Business Administration from the University of Georgia in 1977. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was an Airline Pilot for Piedmont Airlines and U.S. Airways for 25 years. In his earlier professional aviation career, he flew for Industrial Boiler and Flowers Foods. He was a devoted husband and father. Other survivors include son, Stanford Michael Francis Hancock of Pavo; brother-in-law, Jesse Carmichael "Mike" Woodham III; aunt, Dorothy "Dot" Hancock Mills and husband, Ben of Thomasville; cousins, Pamela Hancock Reeves and husband, Tom of Thomasville, Laura Kitchens and husband, Curt of Lakeland, Fla., Kathy Hoskinson and husband, Jim of Lakeland, Fla., Patti Ford and husband, Michael of Columbus; God children and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2790, Thomasville, GA. 31799. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.
