Gwynn Tully Earp

Gwynn Tully Earp, 77, passed away February 4, 2022 in Thomasville, GA. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed being active and was always on the move. He traveled to many locations in North America, Europe, and South America with Peggy, his best friend and wife of 28 years. He was an enthusiastic Florida State Football fan and enjoyed cheering on the Noles at Doak Campbell Stadium with family and friends. He was a skilled teller of "Dad Jokes" and was always able to find the good side of things. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren. Gwynn lived in Greenville, FL for most of his life. He loved to tell stories of growing up in that small town and his adventures in those carefree days when kids played outside until the sawmill whistle blew in the evenings. He was a proud member of the Greenville High School class of 1962. He earned bachelor's, master's and specialist's degrees in Education from Valdosta State University and taught for 36 years before retiring from the Thomas County School system. He enjoyed seeing former students and hearing their stories throughout the years. Although we mourn the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, we rejoice in knowing that he is now pain free and walking with Jesus. Gwynn is survived by his wife, Peggy Barhite, of Thomasville, GA; his son Adam Earp of Atlanta, GA, daughter Emily (Shane) McPherson of Tallahassee, FL, and stepson Jason Oaksford of Ochlocknee, GA; his granddaughters, Anna Rose McPherson and Isabel McPherson, and step-grandchildren Lillian Oaksford and Robert Duncan, He is preceded in death by his mother Gwyndoline Tully Earp and his father Judge Curtis D. Earp of Greenville, FL.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, February 11, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Donations can be made in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
