Hampton Lee Nicholson passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends.
Hamp, the third son of Stephanie and Wes Nicholson, was born on January 16, 2009, His brothers are Max (13), Beck (11) and dog Oreo. His grandparents are Nancy and Skip Hightower of Thomasville; Nonnie and Dennie Lett of Ft. Myers, Florida; Nina and the late Wilkes Nicholson of Cairo, GA. His aunts, uncles, and cousins Sarah and Tim Hightower and Connor (3 months) of Nashville, TN.; Elizabeth and Al Nicholson and Wil (11) and Eva (7) of Thomasville, GA.
Hamp was a vibrant, energetic, independent child who was loved by everyone he met. He was a second grade student at Jerger Elementary School where he amazed his teachers with his math brain and perfect handwriting. Hamp inherited his love and talent for art from his mother. He
loved to draw at home, at school and at art classes. Hamp actively participated in children’s activities at Thomasville First United Methodist Church where his parents are members. He was an enthusiastic member of the YMCA’s Pirates Baseball Team. Hamp could be found donning his uniform and practicing with his dad hours before game time. He loved to bake cookies with his Ma-ma, Nina, and play UNO and Rummikub with Grandmommie, Nancy.
The family will hold a private memorial service. The community is invited to a Celebration of Life service for Hamp on Wednesday, April 19, 4 pm at The Biscuit Company, 219 Oak Street, Thomasville, GA. The Celebration of Life service will conclude with a balloon release for the children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United
Methodist Church, 425 N. Broad Street, Thomasville, GA 31792, to be used to benefit their Rwandan Missions Projects.
He will be missed by family and friends who look forward to seeing him in
heaven.
