Harold Loyd Cope

July 29, 1934 — June 24, 2020

"Blessed is ... the man whose delight is in the law of the Lord and in that law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water, which brings forth his fruit in due season; his leaf also shall not wither and whatever he does will prosper." These words from the Psalms describe Harold Loyd Cope, who was a man who lived his life to honor and serve God. He was born in Fairfax, South Carolina to Miles and Cleo Collins Cope on July 29, 1934. After being educated in the Fairfax Schools, he served his country by joining the National Guard in Beaufort, South Carolina. He and Ann Kearsey were married on June 17, 1967, and served God together for 53 years. They moved to Thomasville, GA in 1967 where they joined First Baptist Church and began teaching youth Sunday School classes. In 1980, they joined New Covenant Church in Thomasville and served in many capacities for over forty years. They worked together in Lay Renewal and in the Prophetic Ministry, helping to conduct conferences and workshops in order to share what they had learned with others. Loyd served New Covenant as an Elder for many of those years. For the last 5 years of his life he was a vital part of Living Word Fellowship of Thomasville.
Over a span of forty years, Loyd was involved in Life Enrichment, a ministry of healing and deliverance. In 1997, he and Ann established Faithful Is He. This ministry has touched thousands of lives and expanded into other states, as well as into the countries of Venezuela, Suriname, and Honduras. Just after his 80th birthday in 2014, Loyd overcame open heart surgery, gall bladder surgery and lymphoma. During this time of illness, God spoke to Loyd and told him that he was not through with his life work; that he was to continue in ministry, and that he was to finish his book. In 2015 Loyd published his book, Availability vs Ability. He continued his ministry in Life Enrichment, leading many people to freedom through Christ. Loyd's secular occupation was with Megahee Speight Company where he worked as a machinist. He eventually purchased the company at the age of 62. The Lord called Loyd home on the morning of June 24, 2020 after a brief illness. A graveside service was held on Saturday, June 27 with Pastor Jim Dorris officiating, Mike DuBose giving a tribute, and musical tributes by Scott Farney, Woody Sanders and David Carvin. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Miles Cope. He is survived by his wife, Ann, a son, Skip Cope (Cindy) of Tallahassee, FL; a daughter Cherie Hephner of Beaufort, SC ; grandchildren Lindsey (Matt), Derek, Emily, Hannah and Charis; and a sister, Louise Pugh of Titusville, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Those wishing to honor Loyd's memory may do so by contributing to his ministry, Faithful is He or to any other ministry that honors Jesus Christ.
