Harold Eugene Stephenson

Funeral services for Harold Eugene Stephenson, 82, of Boston, are 4 pm, Wednesday at Salem Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Lodge and Rev. Marshall Dixon will officiate and interment will be in Salem Cemetery. Mr. Stephenson died May 26, 2008 at his residence. Born July 12, 1925 in Thomas Co, near Pavo he was the son of the late George Eugene Stephenson and Sallie Janie Sherrod Stephenson. On May 6, 1945 he married Elizabeth Simmons Stephenson, who survives. He graduated from Barwick High School in 1943, served 3 years in the US Army Air Corp, was employed by Spence Field Air Base in Moultrie until it closed. He was then self-employed as a farmer. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church for 70 years where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon for many years and was also a Mason. Survivors include sons, Ricky & Darlene Stephenson of Pavo, Randy & Linda Stephenson of Boston, Danny & Mary Stephenson of Eastman, Ga, daughters, Faye Butler of Boston, Raye & Paul Strickland of Thomasville, 11 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Mell Ray Stephenson Watkins. The family will receive friends 7-9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Guests may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
