Services for Harold George Herman, 89, of Thomasville, are at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Joe Easterling will officiate. Interment is in Serenity Gardens in Largo, Fla, Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Herman died November 30 at Woodleaf Assisted Senior Living. Born August 2, 1919, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur Herman and Minnie Vonder Osten. In 1947, in Elkton, Maryland, he married Lucille Granier Herman, who survives. He was retired from The Long Island Railroad as a Yard Master and retired as a Warrant Officer in the US Army Reserve. He was a member of Christ Community Presbyterian Church and the VFW. Survivors include sons, Harold Herman of Tallahassee, FLa., Kenneth Herman of Oak Beach, NY and Gary Herman of Huntington, NY; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Valerie Willis of Pinellas, Fla. ; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, James Herman, Arthur Herman and Warren Herman; and a sister, Constance Herman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel before the service. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
