Graveside services for Harold Wallace Lanier will be held on Monday, January 20, 2003 at 2:00 PM in Big Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy McDonald will officiate. Memorials may be made to the chariety of your choice. Mr. Lanier died Friday, January 17, 2003 at Colquitt Regional Medical Hospital. He was born on September 17, 1927 in Thomas County to Doc A. and Rebecca Kennedy Lanier who preceded him in death and lived his entire life on the family home place. He attended Coolidge Grammer School, Moultrie High School, Norman College and the University of Georgia where he received a degree in English Journalism. He was a member of Boy Scout Troup 408 in Murphy where he achieved the Star Degree, and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Murphy. He taught at Coolidge High School for several years and then retired from South Georgia Natural Gas Co. where he was an accountant. Survivors include a sister-in-law Janet McLendon of Thomasville, brother-in-law Donald O. Turner Sr. of Pavo, nieces Rebecca Allen and Lois Mason of Thomasville, nephew Don Turner, Jr. of Pavo, niece Roni Ellis on Boone, N.C., and 12 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Sidney A. Lanier and sister Grace L. Turner. The family will be at the home of Don Turner, Jr. at 19833 Ga. Hwy 33 in Pavo on Sunday afternoon.
