Services for Harry Augustus Murphy, 96, of Coolidge will be held 11: 00 am, Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Big Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Al Wilbourne will officiate and interment will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve Strickland, Ray Pierce, Calvin Kinard, Mark Williams, Lester Lamb and Roger Strickland. Mr. Murphy passed away March 15, 2012 at his residence. Born August 12, 1915 in Thomas County, he was the son of the late Augustus Alvertus Murphy and Annie Mae Murphy. He was married to Dartha Phinazee Murphy who survives. Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Coolidge High School; was a Merchant Marine and was a retired farmer. Other survivors include his children, Harriet Manley and husband Jimmy of Pavo, Sandra Strickland and husband Stan of Coolidge and Steve Murphy and wife Ann of Roanoke Rapids, NC; grandchildren, Daniel Parrish and wife Kristie of Pavo, Katy McKenzie and Kendra McKenzie both of Dallas TX; great granddaughter, Ivey Parrish of Pavo; sisters, Azoline Brown of Thomasville and Nell Brown of Coolidge and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Maurice Murphy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of South West Georgia, 114 A Mimosa Dr, Thomasville, Ga 31792.
