Graveside services for Harry Lyle Cooper are at 2:00PM, Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Laurel Hill Cemetery next to his parents on 9th Street with the Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor and the Rev. Burns Willis, offiating. Mr. Cooper died late Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA. He was born October 4, 1932 in Thomasville, GA, the son of the late E. Brown and Margaret Lyle Cooper. He was a member of First United Methdoist Church, Thomasville. Mr. Cooper graduated from Thomasville High School and attended Gordon Military School in Barnesville, GA. He was a graduate of Auburn University, where he earned his degree in aeronautical engineering. He retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation in Marietta, GA, as an aeronautical engineer, after 37 years of service. An avid golfer, he was also a sports enthusiast, especially watching the Atlanta Braves Baseball team and the Auburn Tigers Football. Mr. Cooper was fond of old automobiles. Suriviors include his two sons, Harry Lyle Hal Cooper and wife Lori, of Elgin, S.C. and Michael Simms Cooper and wife, Chelsea of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, Ashley Ryan Cooper of Atlanta, Kayla Lyndsey Cooper and James Lyle Cooper of Marietta, brother, E. Brown Cooper, Jr. and wife, Virginia of Lecanta, FL, cousin, Dr. Marrs Cooper and wife, Sue of Thomasville, several nieces and nephews and special friend, Ruth M. Willett.
