Hayward Robert Bond

A private service for Hayward Robert Bond, 78, of Teays Valley and Logan, WV, Will be held at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bob Hall will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bond died March 31, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Born May 29, 1925 in Thomasville, GA, he was the son of the late Robert and Nellie Benton Bond. He was also preceded in death by his brother, J. B. Bond and his sisters, Vera Reagan, Myrtis McVay, Hazel Benton, Louise Carter, Lola Mae Palmer, Lillian Jackson and Effie Gordon. Mr. Bond received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Business form Florida State University and completed his post graduate work at George Peabody College and Auburn University. He received his PhD from Georgia State University in Business Education. He had taught business in many facets on the high school level as well as the collegiate level retiring from a professorship at Southwestern Community Technical College in Logan, WV. He was a past member of the Executive Board and Secretary-Treasurer of the South Carolina Association for Higher Education, past member of the National Association of Continuing Higher Education and was a former officer and board member of Rotary International. He was Methodist by faith. Surviving are his wife, Glenna DeHart Bond; step-children, Edward Adams and his wife, Lisa of Chesapeake, VA, Susan Ellis Stokley and her husband, Jim of Barboursville, WV, Rebecca Ellis Wilson of Nitro, WV; his sister, Marie O?Neal and her husband, Lawrence of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews.
