Hazel Strickland Garner

Graveside services for Hazel Strickland Garner of Merrillville are at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Laurel Hill Cemetery of Texas Street. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate. Pallbearers are Ray White, Spc. Paul White, Jordan Hurst, Neil Brinson, Reid Gaines and Don Perry. Mrs. Garner died January 14, 2004 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born January 26, 1930 in Thomas Co., GA., she was the daughter of the late Horace and Alma Strickland. On June 20, 1953 in Camilla she married Willie R. Garner who preceded her in death. Mrs. Garner was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired LPN. Survivors include a son, Charles Hurst of Coolidge, daughters, Pat Brinson of Thomasville, Miriam Bulloch of Ochlocknee; grandchildren, Jennifer Brinson, Jill Hurst, Jordan Hurst, Ray White, Spc. Paul White, Dee Gaines, Joni Bulloch and Ashley Bulloch; great grandchildren, Nicholas Brinson, Grace Brinson, Leslie White, Heather Smith, Selita Smith; other local survivors include, Kay Perry, Mickey Wheeler; special friend, Annie Lee Anderson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Strickland and sisters, Frances Davis and Elizabeth Williams. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30PM on Friday.
